I was recently invited by my closest friend at work to attend her son’s birthday party. I am fairly new in the company, and she was among the first people who were more than friendly to show me around and accompany me. Attending the party was a perfect way for me to show my appreciation for this effort and to get to know more about her in terms of her personal life.

I was quite clueless about what to give her son for his birthday. For one, I have no kids or boyfriend so I have no idea on what kids these days are interested in. I called my older sister for some advice and told me that one of those pedal cars for toddlers would just work perfectly. My sister was sure of this alright, as my officemate’s kid was truly amazed when he saw me carrying it with a big blue ribbon. Here’s to hoping my colleague and I can look forward to a closer relationship in the future.
